Arizona Fire District Sales Tax Initiative

Fire Chief Tim Bonnee, at the November Fire Board meeting, expressed disappointment over the failure of Proposition 310, which was crucial for Arizona Fire Districts. However, he assured that he and his crews will be moving forward as usual. Thankfully, even though polls showed a 95% positive response to the passage of Prop 310, and despite Chief Bonnee having various plans for enhancing LMRFD support through funding for full-time crews in Meadview and replacing aging equipment, he and the Board wisely avoided spending money before it was secured. This caution is what led to the downturn of the LMRFD in 2013. The LMRFD is fortunate to have a Chief and Board who value the advice of the Accountant, allowing them to continue providing the best service possible with the resources they have.

PROPOSITION 310 WILL BE ON THE BALLOT IN NOVEMBER!

Thank you to everyone who acknowledged the significance of the Arizona Fire District Sales Tax Initiative and signed the petition! Now we need to secure the votes for Proposition 310 to pass it! For the LMRFD, this initiative could mean fully staffing the station in Meadview for fire response and ambulance transport, ensuring better support for our Arizona Fire Districts.

For just 1 penny per $10 purchase anywhere in the state of Arizona, funding for all 144 Fire Districts can be secured. Many smaller rural Fire Districts, like the LMRFD, are facing challenges in sustaining their operations as they serve vast areas beyond their property tax revenue base. This sales tax is essential for their survival and helps to distribute the costs more fairly across all areas served. Scroll to the bottom of this page to read the full details of Proposition 310.
